Leyland hybrid cypress (Cupressocyparis “Leylandii”) is a hybrid obtained by grafting Nutkan cypress and large-fruited cypress (lat. Supressus macrocarpa x Shamaesuraris nootkatensis). It appeared in 1911 in Leyland, England. It is a fast growing variety. The annual growth is 40 cm in height and 20 cm in width. Annual growth in young plants can reach 1 meter. The height of the mature plant is 15-20 m, and the width is 3-5.5 meters. The plant handles pruning very well, which allows you to use wood to create living fences. Topiary spiral pruning is especially popular, this pruning method allows you to create a real work of art from plants.
